Initially when I wrote this poem I didn’t have anything specific in mind. Now I guess it can apply pretty well to the Great Deprecession of 2008 – 200?. The only things missing are cardboard and corrogated iron Bush- and Cheneyvilles. When will it end? Nobody knows. And for the record, I coined two new words in this blog post alone!

Just to bring myself one step closer to actually doing this National Novel Writing Month next month, I’ve created a profile on the NaNoWriMo website, www.nanowrimo.org. Orwell in Spain!

I‘m excited to update an earlier post on the digital publication of the George Orwell diaries 70 years to the day after they were written. As of a few days ago, George Orwell arrived in Spain on a collision course that will soon see him fighting on the side of communist forces against Franco’s fascists, experiences that would later be recounted in Homage to Catalonia.

Today he’s in Gibraltar, commenting on barbary apes among other things. There is even a Google Map to show you exactly where he was on each date

Here’s a website all you aspiring writers out there ought to bookmark: http://www.duotrope.com/index.aspx.

Duotrope is basically a search engine listing thousands of publications, both in print and online, that accept submissions for free, with details about them. You can see Faraway’s listing here: http://www.duotrope.com/market_3088.aspx. This site can be very helpful when trying to find the right publication to submit to, as you can search by genre, length, payscales, and other options.

Of course, you could just submit to Faraway, but if that no longer floats your boat . . .
